Gateway 7330GZ laptop overheating issue

My laptop is not working right. It gets waaaaaaay too hot. You turn it on, and it gets too hot and overheats in 30 minutes, then “click!”-it dies. I’m thinking of buying a new MacBook to replace this old POS.

my gateway t-1616 gets really HOT but i haven’t had it turn off tho.

Well i see from one of your other posts that you already bought a new laptop, i was going to suggest opening the 7330gz up and using a can of compressed air to clean out the heatsink and fans. My sister has this laptop, its not too hard to open up.

That said, its a dinosaur of a laptop now, so kudos for upgrading

What do you mean you put a lid under the laptop? My laptop has overheating issues as well.Or in your case, had.

I have the same problem only when i play high resolution games but i fix it. I put a lid under the laptop so the cool air can enter freely into the machine and it is fine now Coolant pad can also help

My old laptop did the exact same thing. You need to get some air duster and blow out all the vents, and update the bios. It will sometimes turn the fans on sooner.

Hey,u have u clean to clean ur fans and inside of the laptop,i had the same issue,while playing games,it went to 90 degree Celsius,and click,its off, later i cleaned everything, found some help on google how to clean it, and results are seen,while playing its only 40-50 degree Celsius.

Already tried the “WARRANTY”. Gateway told me I was crazy. Thing is, THEIR CRAZY!! They just don’t want to have to deal with me, or anything that is broken that THEY made. They pretty much ripped me off.

My gateway mx6027 had the same issue about 6 months ago, cleaned it out and was fine. The power supply connection to the motherboard recently had issues and started smoking. Laptop was a few years old but just bought a new one, no more Gateway.

Nah, I don’t worry about it anymore. I got me a new HP Pavilion dv2000 to replace it. It did not work well anyways.

I have the same laptop and have never experienced overheating. It does get pretty hot but I put mine over a laptop cooler.

Make sure you don’t put it on a fabric, they tend to block the vents.

Also, get a dust buster and vacum the vents every couple of weeks. Dust bunnies are one of laptops worst enemies.

BTW update: I recently got a new HP Pavillion dv2000 w/ Vista Home Premium. I absolutely love it and it is a very nice computer, compared to my old Gateway laptop.

I still have it, its just not working right. Oddly, it only works with a USB drive in it. ROFL

You are right, that’s why I dual boot with Windows on my Macbook for on-the-go work, and my trusty Desktop in my room. . And Linux sucks, don’t think that you can live off of it with Wine, it didn’t work out for me. My brother has had trouble with his Macbook Pro (Core Duo) overheating, so he let me use it for a while. And that’s when I got hooked(Even though it gave me scars).

I’m not persuading any to use a Mac. My opinion is that Macs are great. I know every OS has it’s weaknesses, it’s just that so far I’ve never had a problem with a Mac. I’ve had problems with Windows many times. This person just had a problem with his Gateway and now his getting a Mac, so as I said before, fck off.
