I would like to know if the RCF P300} 18″ speaker is better than the Celestion FrontLine 2} 18″ speaker for low bass, I will be using a QSC 3000a amp to push the speakers,
The Ferrari of high frequency compression drivers would really be the TAD 2001, 4001 or 4002. Were it not for the fact that these drivers are very expensive and were it not for the fact that the beryllium diphram’s are not only very expensive but also potentially hazardous to replace along with the fact the the TAD’d were not a rugged as the RCF or the B&C, EAW and others would continue to use TAD drivers.
The two 15′s in that box will handle 600 watts RMS continuous, and they will easily handle peaks of 2000 watts plus of clean power.
As long as nothing from the Mixer on down to the speakers in the signal chain is clipping, and you have the high pass filter set at the right frequency point and at the right slope to preven over-excursion, you could and should have those two 15′s coupled up with an amp that will produce 2000 watts plus per channel at four ohms. The mid/high is 8 ohms
First off, the Event 6000 can either be ran in full range mode with one amp or in bi-amped with two separate amps. The onboard crossover is a passive three way crossover. The crossover points are 400 Hz and 3000 Hz.. Running the speaker in full range mode, the 15′s will infact cary vocals as the fundamental freqs of notes up to G4 are all under 400Hz .
Magnet size and weight do not mean anything. The critical factor that is related to the strenght of the Magnet is the Thiele Small parameter called BL factor. A higher BL factor would indicate a stronger magnet or more effective magnet. Compare a new woofer with a neodymium magnet with a traditional ceramic magnet, and while the neo may be quite a bit smaller and have less mass, it woud be likely just as strong or have just as high of a BL factor
I was mearly pointing out thet the Cab he is demonstrating is an passive cab not an active cab , i myself run passive cabs with an active crossover so i do know my stuff , just don’t wont poeple that are not in the know to get confused .
Those terms are used for both. granted, when people say “Active” speakers they often mean speakers with built in amps, but it can just as well mean active x-over, which is what he is talking about. It’s not just bi-amped, but actively crossed. Bi-amped doesn’t have to be electronically crossed, it’s just separate amps for separate drivers, and is a hi-fi kind of thing. Nuthin’ to do with pro speakers.
I have a europower 300 watt amp at 4ohms 2 15″ speaker cabinets at 4 ohms are they compatable with oneanother how do i match the ohms of a amp to ohms of a speaker
